User talk:142.214.60.130

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

School IP address Attention:

This IP address, 142.214.60.130, is registered to Humber College (CA) and may be shared by multiple users of an educational institution. If the institution uses proxy servers, this IP address may in fact represent many users at many physical computers.

For this reason a message intended for one person may be received by another. Similarly an innocent user may be blocked for another user's vandalism. If you are editing from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant messages, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. In some cases you may temporarily be unable to create an account due to efforts to fight vandalism; if so, please read our advice on this situation.

Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider a soft block with the template {{schoolblock|optional comment}} as the block reason.

Note: In the event of persistent vandalism from this IP address, anonymous editing may be disabled for up to 1 year at a time. Abuse reports may also be forwarded to your school administration for investigation.
School staff who want to monitor vandalism from this IP address can subscribe to a web feed of this page in either RSS or Atom format.

Which edit are you talking about as vandalism? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 142.214.60.130 (talkcontribs) .
This and the five here. - UtherSRG (talk) 16:56, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
I didn't do those edits. Read the "Attention" box at the top of this page, this is a shared IP which thousands of people access simultaneously and you've blocked all of Humber College. I did the Communist Party of Canada edit, why did you revert that one? 142.214.60.130 17:20, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
I did read the attention box. Did you? Try the second paragraph. Create your own account, and the vandals at your school won't cause you to be blocked. I'll revert the one good edit I reverted. - UtherSRG (talk) 17:31, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Did you read the policy on IP blocks? 1 week blocks are not acceptable for a shared college proxy account. If you want to temporarily block for a few minutes or even a few hours to stop a problem that's one thing but blocking an entire college for a week is ridiculous. 142.214.60.130 17:38, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
If this were a first time offense for this school, then I'd have put a shorter block on it. As it stands, this is the third block for this school in just a few moths. The block stands. If this bothers you, create your own account, or find a different admin to unblock. - UtherSRG (talk) 18:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding edits made during April 2007

  • This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, you will be blocked from editing. Vaniac 18:12, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia has a policy of no independant research, so no, you're not authorized to "speak for them". I see you also managed to spell "vandalism" wrong. Well done. You have vandalized the page after your final warning was issued. Vaniac 19:25, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
If you wish to contribute to this encyclopedia, please
create an account at home and log in with it here.

Due to persistent vandalism, editing by anonymous users from your school, library, or institution's IP address is currently disabled. If you are logged in but still unable to edit, please follow these instructions. To prevent abuse, account creation via this address is probably also disabled.

  • If accounts need to be created at school for class projects, please have your teacher or network administrator contact us (with reference to this IP address) at unblock-en-l from an email address listed on your school's website.
  • Alternatively, if you have no Internet access at home, you may email us using your school-issued email address and an account will be created for you.

Thank you.
