Unfortuantely, unlike every other aspect of Nazi aggression, there exists no photographic evidence of a gas chamber used by Nazi Germany, like there exists of the image of the gas chamber in California earlier in this article. This has led to a huge debate between historians if the gas chambers were ever used on the civilian population under Nazi Germany.

The problem isn't with the statement itself. The problem is with the underlying implication of the statement: that there is a possibility that the Nazis did not in fact execute Jews in gas chambers. If you check out Geoffrey Robertson's book "Crimes against Humanity" you can find very solid evidence for these chambers (i.e. specific reference to the maintenance and use of the chambers in Nazi records), albeit non-photographic. There are thousands of years of history not backed up by photographic evidence so the idea that in the special case of Nazi atrocity we need explicit photographic evidence of every detail is patently absurd.
