I am not sure that Silurana can be considered a synonyn for Xenopus. However, it appears that two species, Xenopus tropicalis and X. epitropicalis, are being considered for a genus change, i.e. Silurana. Current studies cited by R.O. de Sa and D.M. Hillis suggests that Silurana is more closely related to the South American genus Pipa and the African genera Hymenochirus and Psudhymenochirus. There is going to be plenty of taxonomic changes in the near future.
