There is no record in Hansard (www.parliament.wa.gov.au) or the media of Mr Cadby speaking on the one-vote-one-value legislation before he lost preselection. The legislation that Mr Cadby supported created what is known as dummy voters in the far north of WA. These dummy voters have the effect of creating a gerrymander in regional WA. There are numerous references to these dummy voters creating a rural gerrymander in Hansard and the Western Australian media.

The Labor government's own media statement of 30th March 2005 also states that the north of WA will be exempt from provisions in the one vote one value legislation ie the legislation Mr Vadby supported kept a rural gerrymander in some parts of WA: 'Mr McGinty said that the legislation would protect the five existing seats in the Mining and Pastoral Region...' [ie in these areas the rural gerrymander will remain]

The facts can be verified at www.parliament.wa.gov.au and search using 'one vote one value AND cadby' and then 'one vote one value AND dummy'.

Also, there are numerous references in Hansard to the Liberal Party policy of allowing its MPs to cross the floor. This means the statement 'Cadby had been bound to oppose the legislation as a member of the Liberal Party' to be a false and flawed statement. It is only ALP members who must abide by caucaus decisions.

Other references highlighting Liberal MPs have the right to cross the floor and vote against their Party: http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200610/s1755780.htm http://www.abc.net.au/pm/content/2006/s1711010.htm http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/downer-backs-mps-right-to-cross-the-floor/2005/08/15/1123957991790.html

There are also numerous State Liberal MPs who have exercised their right to cross the floor including Ross Lightfoot (over milk deregulation and Sue Walker (over the closing of a palliative care centre in her electorate).

Now as to the comments you left on my page. I'm not sure what your point is so if you could please explain.

As to this. There are certain problems there. You removed all the categories and wikilinks which looks like vandalism. The article also needs references and they must be in the article not on my talk page. Please read Wikipedia:Citing sources and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Thanks.
