I would think only the contributor can determine whether they are "retired" or not from Wikipedia. If they just leave without a trace, they are considered missing. --EoL talk 23:55, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Missing Wikipedians is usually for editors who were long-term, then suddenly disappeared. We usually just leave the pages of short-term editors alone. You can add the template again if you want, however, another editor, like myself, may object to it, though. --EoL talk 00:04, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
