Talk:120 Minutes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This show wasn't called '120 Minutes' until early 1989 when Donnie Osmond hosted the first telecast. Previously MTV aired 'The Edge' and 'Post-Modern MTV'. One of the latter two is often sited as the start of '120 Minutes'.
Surely someone can come up with a wiki stub for Dave Kendall! That guy was a true innovator of 120 Minutes and really injected spark into the interstitials. --Frenkmelk 02:50, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
I seem to recall that it WAS originally called "120 minutes", and was actually originally hosted by old-time VJ Alan Hunter before Kevin Seal took over (and later that Daniel Ash look-alike guy Dave Kendall). "Post Modern MTV" was a totally different show - only a half hour long and shown on weeknights and it came a few years later - like 1988-89 ish. I don't remember any show called "the edge" (and I was a serious MTV junkie in the 80's - cut me some slack though - I was just a pre-teen music geek kid from a small town) but IRS records did have a show called "the cutting edge" hosted by peter zaremba of the fleshtones that showed stuff from their label. The sunday night lineup on MTV circa 1986 was brictoms followed by "the cutting edge" followed by "120 minutes". Man, MTV used to be pretty cool when you think about it. 161.149.63.100 17:06, 20 February 2007 (UTC)no username
