Image:0x80 cracker with laptop.jpg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This image is from a Washington Post article called "Invasion of the Computer Snatchers" about a cracker named 0x80 who creates botnets which are used to install spyware for a commission. The image itself is important because slashdots used it (and other images from the same article) to determine the location of 0x80. The metadata reveals the location is Roland, Oklahoma. The metadata is intact in this upload; you can see all of it by clicking "Show extended details" below.

The image is fair use in 0x80 because it is used for the educational purposes of identifying 0x80 and explaining how his location was identified. Its purpose is to advance knowledge about the person and the slashdot investigation. It does not compromise the Washington Post's profits because the image (and a larger version) was visible for free. It is a low-resolution so the quanitity is relatively low.
