[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:MNZadornov.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:MNZadornov.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 16:28, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Why are you doing so? Duran isn't minor character so that article about him should be merged into one single list. If you think that separated articles about characters are not needed, you may discuss it on AFD, but please don't delete them without consensus. Thank you. ru.Media 12:53, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Consensus was reached long ago. Most of the characters of StarCraft have insufficient real-world information available to warrant their own notable articles, and have been merged in line with policy. Characters of StarCraft is the coverage that the character currently warrants. It is not a minor character article, that is List of minor characters in the StarCraft universe. If you can find the design and development commentary along with indepth reception information such as Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan have then Duran can have his separate article back, but I assure you that such information does not exist at present and as such, as with all the other StarCraft characters in the same position, he remains in the Characters of StarCraft article. Creating a separate article based entirely in in-universe facts is NOT notable or in line with Wikipedia policy. -- Sabre 13:18, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- You're right about notability and that it's needed by WP:FICTION to merge this articles. However, according to WP:SIZE article Characters of StarCraft is already too long and should be divided. The best solution would be to create one list with only short description of any character, and several articles about characters. If it's not allowed, we may at least create Protoss Characters of StarCraft, Terran Characters of StarCraft etc. ru.Media 16:47, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Those size guidelines are just that: guidelines. The wikiprojects for videogames and strategy games, along with the people who passed it as a listed good article raised no objections, neither did the writer of WP:Fiction when enquired. Forgive me for valuing their views over your own in this case, but a split of article is completely unnecessary. For encyclopedic treatment of the characters the size of the article can be overlooked. Plus, you do not understand that the characters other than Kerrigan and Raynor have absolutely no available real-world information are therefore not notable as stand alone subjects and therefore cannot be split off under any circumstances. The article's status as an A-class good article has not been given without much scrutiny by people who know what they are doing. Splitting into characters by species will also be highly detrimental to the encyclopedic treatment as it compromises notability as specific commentary on species-specific characters is not available. The character articles will remain the way they are.
- In addition, you seem to think all we're doing is simply copying and pasting the species articles into a single article. If that is the case you are gravely mistaken - it is a simple matter of thorough copyediting and planned structure. We (don't think I'm the only one involved in these rewrites) know what we are doing. And what is happening on the Russian Wikipedia is of no significance here. And whilst I can't read Russian I can tell that the content of the Terran article is highly unencyclopedic and probably is well within the territory of game guide material - indepth information on buildings and units is completely unnecessary.
And a word of advice: you will find that User:Медиа/List of StarCraft missions will fall foul of more than a few policies here. That level of detail is not needed for each missions. We used to have something similar about a year ago, and it rightly got deleted. The game articles cover all the detail of the missions that is needed. -- Sabre 19:03, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
