Þráinn (Thrainn) Bertelsson (b? - ), is an Icelandic writer, journalist and a pioneer of the Icelandic cinema.

Bertelsson has written, directed and produced 7 feature films with two European Film Award nominations for Magnús, nominated for best picture and best script.[citation needed]
He was the first film maker to be granted a lifetime award by the Icelandic Parliament.[citation needed]

Bertelsson writes a weekly column for Iceland's largest newspaper Fréttablaðið, and his autobiographical "Einhvers konar ég" ("Myself & I") sold more than 20,000 copies in Iceland.[citation needed]
He has also written two darkly comic crime novels, "Dauðans óvissi tími" ("Death's Uncertain Hour") and "Valkyrjur" ("Valkyries"), about Iceland's "new Vikings", the unscrupulous Icelandic business men at home and in the international community.
