The following is the entire, unedited e-mail that I sent Jimmy after the Mzoli's incident. I am posting it here (and with Jimbo's permission, I would like to post his reply) in order to fully document exactly what happened. I hope this will clarify any confusions. Thanks.

subject About What Happened

Jimmy,

I would like to first and foremost apologize for the serious lack of communication that occurred over the past few days in regards to the Mzoli's restaurant issue. I believe some words were said by both sides of the debate that were better left unsaid, as the whole situation had quickly degenerated into a slew of personal attacks, accusations of bad faith on the part of other editors and so on.

This being said, I realize that my actions in this situation did seem rather hasty to other editors, which would most likely explain their concerns with the way I did act. I can see why it would appear that I was on a vendetta, out to get you, or whatever other explanation was given. I will freely admit that I am a very hasty editor, yet this is all done in good faith, which I believe is the crucial point.

From day one, I have always attempted to act in good faith when editing and interacting with others on Wikipedia. While I may come across as rough, strict, and a deletionist, I do with with the mindset that what I am doing is being done to improve Wikipedia. On that note, this is why I am so vehemently opposed to the addition of cruft articles, as well as my work in regards to non-free images and clearing out extraneous user categories. These things, the way I've always seen it, are not acceptable to Wikipedia and must be scrubbed out with hot water and soap quickly.

So, when we come to an article such as Mzoli's, due to the issues at hand, we've essentially got a recipe for Wiki-drama. Unsourced, poor quality article by a valued contributor, keep or delete? In hindsight, I realize the depth of my actions and the potential fallout from such a debate.

I have since spoken with Cary Bass--who I consider a very dear friend of both mine and yours--who said he had spoken with you and you had affirmed that the words mentioned on the Articles for Deletion page itself (in regards to leaving the project) were not indeed directed at myself as I so thought. The comment didn't specify, and given the actions of everyone involved, the comment fell especially hard on me. In addition, the comment you left on my userpage was especially hurtful. As I said above, I have always attempted to act in good faith, and being told otherwise is a rather crushing blow, especially when it comes from a highly active and known contributor such as yourself.

Any who, I'm beginning to ramble a bit. I figured I would just send an e-mail trying to clarify the situation, and apologize for any transgressions on my part. Have a nice evening.

All the best, Chad H.
