The Olympia Theatre is a concert hall in Dublin, Ireland, locate in Dame Street.
It was originally built in 1879, with the name Star of Erin Music Hall, while two years later, it was renamed Dan Lowrey's Music Hall.
In 1892 there was a first reconstruction, and five years later the building was completely demolished and rebuilt as the Olympia Theatre.
Many well known artists have played there, including Waterboys, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Johnny Cash, Paddy Casey, Arcade Fire, Ryan Adams, Kraftwerk, Aslan, Lou Reed, The Frames, Happy Mondays, The Strokes, Ocean Colour Scene, Ian Brown, Paul Weller, Sonic Youth (in 1998), Morrissey, Yazoo (band), James and R.E.M. (in 2007, doing a five-night "live rehearsal" mainly trying out new songs).
