1842 fashion plate from La Mode which seemingly deliberately plays up the contrast between a strongly masculine-fashion-influenced riding habit (a garment which ladies wore in order to ride horses sidesaddle) vs. ultra-feminine high-fashion attire, with perhaps slightly bizarre results.
